The 5 Physical Therapy Tools We’re Most Grateful For

As we head into the holiday season, we’re always reminded of how much there is to be thankful for—our athletes, our community, and the privilege of helping people move, guiding them back to the mountain or training floor.

In the spirit of gratitude, we wanted to highlight the Top 5 Physical Therapy Tools We’re Most Grateful For: the equipment that helps us guide recovery, build resilience, and keep you doing what you love.

1) Power Rack

The cornerstone to any rehab program focused on strength development. From squats to pull ups to yielding and overcoming isometrics, it’s the backbone of any return-to-sport strength program. Not only that, to me it's the most empowering piece of equipment in any rehab space. Once you get someone underneath a barbell, their whole demeanor changes and confidence blossoms.

We’re thankful for: its capacity to empower paired with its ability to help athletes build foundational, long-lasting strength.

2) Trap (Hex) Bar

When it comes to developing powerful, sustainable lower-body strength while respecting biomechanics, few tools are more reliable than the hex bar. It’s our go-to for teaching hinge mechanics, building force production, and helping athletes lift confidently from new lifter to experienced.

We’re thankful for: making strength training accessible to every athlete—novice to elite.

3) Plyo Boxes

Whether we’re retraining landing mechanics, building explosive power, or restoring confidence after injury, the humble plyo box is irreplaceable. Being able to modify height and impact level lets us guide athletes through safe, progressive return-to-sport sequences at any level.

We’re thankful for: helping athletes reclaim speed, agility, and the psychology to trust their joints again.

4) Kettlebells

The perfect blend of simplicity and versatility. Kettlebells allow us to train power, strength, trunk control, unilateral stability, and athletic conditioning—all with a single tool. They’re equally valuable for early-stage rehab and high-level performance progressions. Best thing of all, any new lifter usually doesn’t quite know what weight they are lifting and ends up significantly overachieving their own expectations.

We’re thankful for: their capacity to challenge the whole body through dynamic, athletic movement at any stage of rehab.

5) Leg Extension / Leg Curl Machine

The leg extension / curl machine is a powerhouse for isolated quadriceps and hamstring strengthening—crucial for knee rehab, patellofemoral control, return-to-running progressions, and post-operative recovery. Its ability to dose load and build capacity makes it an essential tool for rebuilding confidence and function for any lower body rehab.

We’re thankful for: its role in targeted strength development when athletes need it most.

While we love our equipment, the truth is we are most grateful for all our patients, athletes, and the community we get to be part of.

Thank you for always showing up, trusting the process, and pushing to become better versions of yourselves.

From our entire team,
Happy Thanksgiving!
