New Years Reflections in Physical Therapy
When your medium of transportation for the holidays is driving and spend 15 hours in the car each way, you get a lot of time to reflect. For me and with the new year upon us, the bulk of my reflection surrounded behavior change and what goes into the process of creating new habits and decision making models.
Milestones & New Expectations
I had a recent conversation with a patient this past week who we’ve been training and working with over the past year+ and he casually mentioned something that initially caught me off guard but once I processed the information, I was ecstatic for him.
Dungeons & Dynamometers in Denver
The title makes it sound like we went to a comic con conference. However, instead this past weekend we explored all things dynamometry and testing through a course called Dungeons & Dynamometers. I personally loved it because it validated all of my confirmation bias about standardization of testing and what goes into fulfilling a detailed, comprehensive evaluation with our patients. You Don’t Have to Be Broken Before Coming to Physical Therapy
People often play the “wait and see” approach to their injuries. Sometimes it works, and in our world of personal bias as performance physical therapists, a lot of times it doesn't.
They wait until their symptoms have been going on too long and it starts affecting the activities they love before seeking care.
Keep The Main Thing, The Main Thing
If you’ve ever read Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, you are probably super familiar with this phrase. It's one that gets passed around a lot in the athletic and professional sports world amongst athletes in regards to staying focused on the end goal. For me, this phrase is a pillar and cornerstone when it comes to not getting overwhelmed from life piling up and thinking small. Staying focused on the big picture and understanding how it fits the vision of what we want to achieve.
