You Don’t Have to Be Broken Before Coming to Physical Therapy

People often play the “wait and see” approach to their injuries. Sometimes it works, and in our world of personal bias as performance physical therapists, a lot of times it doesn't.

They wait until their symptoms have been going on too long and it starts affecting the activities they love before seeking care.

We’ve heard it all: hoping it would go away on its own, thinking it wasn't bad enough, not having the time to make an appointment… we get it, life happens.

But the hard truth is, the longer an injury goes on, the longer it can take to fix it. We can develop muscle weaknesses, compensations patterns, movement shifts to avoid pain, and the pain cycle gets more and more engrained into our system the longer it lasts.

So what is ideal if you experience an injury?

Coming in within 2 weeks of the initial injury is the ideal scenario. When people come in to early PT, they have fewer physician visits (save time/money), less imaging done (save time/money), less pain medication (save time/money), fewer injections (save time/money), and the prevalence of surgery goes down (save lots of time/money).

YOU SAVE TIME AND MONEY!

A study in 2015 found that people who came in for physical therapy within 2 weeks of initial injury saved $2700 on their total health care costs.

Here's the kicker, Colorado is a direct access state - meaning you can schedule with a physical therapist directly without a referral from your physician. Physical therapists are trained to be first-line providers and can rule out conditions that are more serious, send you for imaging if warranted, and immediately start treatment.

We’ve got you…

... Injury fresh and acute? - we can help with pain relief techniques.

… Aren’t sure how bad it is? - we can diagnose whats going on and likely only need a few visits to take care of it!

… Injury improving, but you can’t quite get over the hump? - we can help figure out that last piece of the puzzle with you.

…. Re-injured all the time? - get ahead of it before it becomes chronic.

YOU DON'T NEED TO BE BROKEN BEFORE COMING TO PT!
